Threat to Kabala
In September, Magnus joined the SLM committee on zoom for their monthly meeting, to bring us news from our Sierra Leone communities and some of the issues they are currently facing.
Kabala Church
Following several months of extreme weather conditions, the Connexion Church in Kabala has been damaged beyond repair. Church members are being allowed to meet in a building owned by a local Muslim, but it is becoming necessary for a new church to be constructed.
Relations between Muslims and Christians have always been harmonious in Kabala, and Magnus receives a warm welcome each time he visits. However, a major increase in Muslim investment for the area could threaten to alter this balance. A significant infrastructure expansion programme is now underway, including the construction of new, larger mosques to encourage and accommodate growing congregations.
Connexion-owned land in Kabala is available to be used as a site for a new church building, subject to funding. Given the change in circumstances, and a possiblity of rising friction, Magnus has requested urgent prayers for this project to be financed as soon as possible.
